Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak was ended by Sunderland before the international hiatus, however can the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole away win this campaign came at Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno was still that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have impressed a few people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.

A family member told me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at their stadium. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have plenty of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to back the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the close of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's home record, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
