A revitalized the Russian player claimed his initial championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

The win also means he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

His defensive approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent saved four initial break points in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
