Performer Denies Anti-Vax Position After Voicing Disputed Coronavirus Documentary
The "Taken" star has lent his vocal talents to a new documentary that questions the safety of immunizations and praises former health official RFK Jr.
The Feature's Provocative Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the project is based on a well-known publication co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who rose to infamy during the health crisis for assertions that the illness was caused by a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
The publication's co-author, a producer, has also written books with conspiracy-prone media personality the Infowars host. He wrote online hailing Neeson's participation in the project.
An Unequivocal Statement
The team of Liam Neeson have released a statement firmly refuting implications that he holds anti-immunization sentiments.
"Many acknowledge that misconduct can exist within the drug industry, but that cannot be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the comment explains. "Neeson never has been, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His extensive work with the UN children's agency highlights his enduring support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It continued that the star did not shape the documentary's narrative and that inquiries about its claims should be directed to the producers.
Key Claims Featured in the Feature
In the film, the voiceover provided by Neeson makes several provocative claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have called for "unconditional submission" to government bodies.
- It argues that "science has become dangerously politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed stating, "The major issue with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
- It also criticizes pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused severe distress that cost thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it mentions a perspective that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Past Context and Ongoing Disputes
It also references a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was later the subject of a formal apology by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
Last month, RFK Jr called on the CDC to alter its longstanding position that there is no link between vaccines and autism. This claim is repeated in the documentary, even with a fresh analysis from the global health body stating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Endorsement
Standing in contrast to the documentary's narrative, Neeson has formerly expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration saying, "This isn't the conclusion of our journey. It is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
