Grief as Beloved South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the shooting remains unclear and no arrests are in custody, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement said that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the site managing the setup of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the man was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," authorities said.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what resembled a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the incident.
