Former Physician Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
